General: Fir Dwarf Mistletoe (Arceuthobium abietinum) is a parasitic plant that lives by taking water and nutrients from other species of plants. There are nine species (and some subspecies) of mistletoe in Nevada (perhaps eight species in southern Nevada), and Fir Dwarf Mistletoe specializes on White Fir.

In the genus Arceuthobium, the plant reproduces by ejecting sticky seeds from the berry. The seeds land on other branches or other trees and start a new plant.
