Broad-billed Hummingbird male

General Description: Broad-billed Hummingbirds (Cynanthus latirostris) are tiny blue and green birds with a long red bill. The tail is broad and forked. The red bill has a black tip. The back is green, and the lower belly and undertail covers are white. Males have a blue throat and blue-green chest, while females have a green throat and white underparts. Females also have a white eyeline.

Taxonomy: Apodiformes, Trochilidae, Trochilinae.

Favored Habitat: Desert canyons and woodlands in southeastern Arizona.
