General Description: Spotted Towhees (Pipilo maculatus) are large, sexually monomorphic sparrows. They are black above, orange-brown below, and have white streaks and spots on the wings and back. The eye is red. The tail corners are white Taxonomy: Passeriformes, Emberizidae. Favored Habitat: Brushy desert and canyon habitats. |

Where to Find: Spotted Towhees are fairly common and can be found in brushy areas such as the Willow Springs Picnic Area and Calico Basin. Comments: |
